ELEGBA (aka Eleggua) is another name for the Yoruba God “Esu”. Also spelled “Eshu”.

ESU (A-Shoo) is an ancient African God. He is the Yoruba God known as “The Road Opener” & “Good Luck Charm.” Also known as “The God of opportunity” or “Messenger God”, he rules over and draws his energy from the planet Mercury and is known for being extremely mischievous but loyal. “Ésu” is spelled “Eshu” in the English spelling. Elegba is spelled/pronounced “Eleggua” in Cuban Lukumi practice.
